The Process: Protection

To protect the surface of the lightbox (as its the property of the University), and to create a texture underneath the acrylic, I bought some cling film from asda and laid it on top of the lightbox before placing down the acrylic maze. This made the paint very easy to handle and gave it a compound to travel inside of.

The acrylic was also applied for mine and other peoples health and safety. It made sure the paint did not cause some sort of malfunction inside the lightbox.

For the protection of others and my work, I left a very visible sign on top of my work before I went home to ensure no one came in contact with it.

Artists Statement

I am a self-taught CG animator constantly seeking new challenges to tackle, new practices to master and new images to create. My favourite phrase is B.B.T.O.S. This phrase means Bring Back The Old School and this is a theme that I try to implement into my creations. There is no future without a past and this also applies to design and animation.

Everything nowadays is trying to be futuristic or modern and for most to achieve this they abandon the designs and thoughts created by the past and endeavour on a creative process to create something very different. I do not think this approach is wrong but I believe that the illusion that the result was purely a result of the creative journey is a lie. In everything modern or futuristic there is a glimpse of the past and I believe that we should make these glimpses windows, and one day we can make them half the creation without denial of the origin.
